So nice to meet you!

“Joy comes to us in moments”

My name is Cara and I live in Cape Town, South Africa with my husband who I met when I was in high school, my three little boys, my french bulldog, miniature schnauzer, a bunny, a chicken and a partridge in a pear tree. No, really, we do have a pear tree but no partridge. Yet.

My love language is acts of service so it makes sense that I love having people in our home whether it be a playdate for one of my children or friends around our dining room table where I can feed, entertain and hopefully do a good enough job that they will choose to come back.

Here you will find things that inspire me along with the end result of seasonal tablescapes as well as my thoughts around them. I explore where to find table linens and table decorations married with my love of flowers often straight from my garden. Most days you will find me behind my laptop or a steering wheel normally listening to a podcast and planning my next dog walk in the nearby vineyards.

Grab a cup of tea (Earl Grey is my favourite) or glass of bubbles and take a look around. I would love to hear from you so please find me on Instagram @mycherishedtable or email me at caraeachus@gmail.com

FAQs

Where are you from?

I live in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town, South Africa but am heavily influenced by the countryside here locally and in England. We try to live seasonally and with nature as much as possible.

What is your day job and background?

I work for a global organisation that supports high growth entrepreneurs as they scale their businesses. I LOVE my job and find that no two days are the same plus I get to learn from amazing business leaders who are doing incredible things around the world.

After school I completed an undergraduate degree in business management and then a two year diploma in interior design. While working as a teaching assistant I completed a teaching post graduate and went on to teach and have my own little school for 6 years while starting our family.

I now have three little boys (12, 9 and 6) and finally feel like I have capacity to have my own business again alongside my full time job.

Why mycherishedtable?

I always used to hate setting the table and decorating the smaller spaces in my home, struggling to create balance and pretty vignettes. However, during lockdown this brought me a lot of joy and I was able to combine my learnings from studying interior design along with the practicalities learnt over the years that make a family of 5 work. I hope I can show you easy ways to create visually appealing spaces for memorable gatherings.

What do you plan on doing with this space?

As well as showing you creative ways to style your table and your spaces in your home, I want to show you where to source interesting things as well as bring you quality items that I have found difficult to source. This is coming in 2024!

How can I get in touch?
